Door opens fine from the inside but i can t open from the outside.

I ve already checked the child lock. Took door panel off looks like the cable has slack in it so that when the handle is pulled the latch is not engaged enough to open door. The actual pin goes up and down as usual but there is absolutely no tension on the door handle from inside or outside. Update 2 21 the dealer figured out that the problem was the cable was not connected from the outside door handle to the door lock actuator. The handle seems to be raised about an 1 8th inch compared to other door handles. 2005 bmw x5 3 0i. Door handle doesn t feel loose or anything.
