Trace the vent onto the drywall.
Blocking up a fireplace with plasterboard.
Continue this process until surface is covered.
28th may 2016 it is our first diy day and the bricking up the fireplace is first on our list.
A new section of skirting board will be required to finish off the wall after the plaster has gone off.
Apply it with a plasterer s trowel scraping it over the bricks until they are completely covered.
Allow it to dry.
Remember to leave the surface of the air brick exposed.
Center it between the side edges of the drywall with the bottom edge of the vent cover positioned about 6 inches from the bottom edge of the drywall.
Using timber battens 50mm x 50mm 2inx2in construct a frame around the inside edge of the opening setting it back slightly to allow for the width of the board.
The plasterboard will need to be cut correctly so that it fits tightly into the space.
Bricks remove the fireplace surround.
Mix up plaster and apply to surface in light coats.
Measure the fireplace s opening.
