Blinds Turning Rod Broke

If your blinds are locked open so turning the tilting rod doesn t change the blinds from open to closed position it s likely that the tilting rod has come loose on the inside of the blinds.

If blinds won t rotate because the rod is not rotating it may just need some lubrication. Push the rod back through the tilter and replace cap brace. Then turn the tilter shaft until the flat portion of the rod lines up with the flat portion inside the tilter. This may help the rod rotate properly.

Confirm that the tilter mechanism is completely set into the headrail of the blinds. Spraying with lubricant will loosen and lubricate the turning mechanism and open the blinds. Once you finish spraying turn the twist rod back and forth and pull the string to make sure everything has freed up. Spray a small amount of lubricant where the rod is connected to the blinds.

If the cords are not broken you do not have to remove the blind. If so use some needle nose pliers to pull it off the rod. The stem on the outside of the tilt mechanism has broken off. Make sure that the tilt rod is not bent.

If turning the wand does not tilt the slats that indicates that the gear in the tilt mechanism is broken. Pick up a lubricant spray meant to be used on household items like wd 40. Simply space the wand over the blind hook to open and close the blinds as needed. Slide the metal rod out of the tilter control.

Spray a very small amount while turning the rod. You can also spray some on the roller on the other end of the blinds and in the track itself. Make sure that the tape roll drum is properly set in the tape roll support cradle. Vinyl and aluminum blinds.
